Harrods International Academy recently hosted a Parent Workshop focused on Positive Parenting, Healthy Relationships, and Safe Online Engagement for Children and Adolescents, bringing together parents, education professionals, and expert facilitators for a meaningful morning of learning and discussion.
Held on 29 August 2026, the workshop was designed to support parents with practical knowledge and strategies to better understand the challenges children and adolescents face as they grow, particularly in relation to family relationships, personal development, communication, and the digital world.
The session featured expert speakers and facilitators from Plan International Cambodia, including Ms. Em Mealea, Technical Specialist for Health and Nutrition, and Mr. Teng Samath, Technical Specialist for Gender Equality and Inclusion. A representative from the Ministry of Women’s Affairs, Department of Women and Education, also contributed to the programme, providing valuable perspectives on creating safe, respectful, and supportive environments for young people.
Throughout the workshop, parents explored several important topics related to modern parenting. Discussions highlighted positive parenting principles, with an emphasis on building strong family relationships, using nonviolent approaches, and supporting children’s healthy development.
The session also encouraged parents to have open and age appropriate conversations with adolescents about puberty, relationships, and personal wellbeing. By creating a safe space for communication at home, parents can help young people feel more confident seeking guidance and making responsible decisions.
Online safety was another important focus of the workshop. With children spending increasing amounts of time online, parents were introduced to potential risks associated with social media and digital platforms, as well as ways to guide their children towards safer and more responsible online engagement.
The workshop also explored gender equitable parenting and the importance of challenging stereotypes, promoting mutual respect, and creating an inclusive home environment where every child feels valued and supported.
At Harrods International Academy, we believe that strong partnerships between families and the school play an important role in supporting the overall development and wellbeing of every student. Parent workshops such as this provide opportunities for families to connect with experts, gain practical insights, and strengthen their confidence in supporting their children through different stages of development.
We would like to thank Plan International Cambodia, the Ministry of Women’s Affairs, our expert speakers and facilitators, and all parents who joined us for this valuable learning experience.
Together, we continue to build a caring, informed, and supportive community where children can grow with confidence, respect, and the skills they need to navigate both the real and digital world.
